Andrew, take a look in the back of the Workshop Manual there should be something there to help you.

I don't have my Series II book to hand but I do know there is a VERY detailed description of fitting in the Series One Workshop Manual as I was only looking at it yesterday and see no reason why the SII book should be any less descriptive.

"... look out for a rental dropside transit and a bunch of shifty looking characters selling their wares."

Ha , ha!
Isn't that every plot at every meet?

do eyebrows count as facial hair?

Definitely helps, sounds like you're in the spirit. Mind, this life-style takes dedication. Knowing the difference between the Mk4 and the Mk3 is a job that doesn't do itself.

Start with something simple. 1950s Lemonade bottle-tops is a good one. If you really want to do things properly, the defining feature is a near-pathological interest in uncovering archaic and forgotten things/activities/technology from 'yesteryear' and restoring them to their 'former glory', or even creating/selling more.

The more pointless the better. You don't even have to be any good to be highly successful. Look at me.
Morris-dancing being a good example - if you get it right, you can say any old tosh - and no one can tell.

can't remember what state they are in, but it's the right continent at least. They might do a trade for the parts you have?

If anybody is going to Beaulieu tomorrow as opposed to Malvern or any other events, I'll be there trying to offload more stuff. If I can, I'll fly a Series 2 Club banner, but either way, look out for a rental dropside transit and a bunch of shifty looking characters selling their wares. Stop by and say hello.

General Discussion / Re: Glass etching kit.
Last post by NoBeardNoTopKnot - Today at 08:04 AM
Wow! That takes me back. I pioneered the sand-blast kits to do this. There was a time when all you could get was acid-etch kits in car-accessory shops; I smile, in those days, even car-polish had 'turbo' on the bottle.

As a school-boy I'd had tin-pot businesses. This was my first 'real' business. I was sat in a pub back in the late 70s looking at the 'Pint-mark' on my glass,  saw it was sand-balsted. Got to thinking.
I used aluminium-oxide to blast via compressed-air thru' a stencil.   Started a business selling the kits, sold to insurance companies, the police and windscreen replacement outfits. They were hard to sell to.

Most sales  were via an ad in the 'Business-Opportunities' next to those selling Jacket-potato and hot-dog carts

Bought my first house at 21, had it paid for by 23 with that.

Now.. here's the irony. I've got some kits in the garage now,  not looked at them for 30 years.
