Welcome! A photo often helps when raising a topic, I think.

Shout if you need any help dating your truck/engine - we might have it on the club database or some near-abouts. Can send me a PM with the details if this is of interest.

Quote from: Gareth on May 25, 2024, 10:23 PMStill not happy with my steering. Already done steering box, swivels and joints. Still felt vague and heavy.

Only bit left to check - the relay! Stiff as a board! Took some bolts out and rusty water dribbled out. I screwed a grease nipple in and forced some oil in, but it would not loosen up.

So need to replace it. No time today, so will take it out next week. I reckon it must have been fitted before the front panel, because the bolts are in from the front. No way they will come out forwards, so I'll have to take the front panel mounting bolts out and wing bolts, to lift it up to get it out.
No need to remove it - yet.

Remove the top arm and the top plate. Disconnect the bottom arm from the steering rod. Then pour oil into the open top. Work away at the bottom arm, after a while it will free up, while dribbling more oil into the top. The spring cannot fly out, as it's held by the tapered bushes.

You can also remove the bottom arm, move it round on the splines to a different place, and put back on and tighten up. Carry on moving the arm.

If this doesn't free up the relay, then brace yourself to remove it.

Hit 'Reply' rather than 'Quick Reply, then you get an option at the bottom of the post area to upload a photo/file. Try to use one below 1MB or trim it to that if you can as otherwise it can hit difficulties.

Quote from: Mycroft on May 26, 2024, 09:28 AMMorning Peter, got a photo of your Landie?

By the club truck database, I reckon yours was built in July/August 1960 - does that sound about right? It's very nearly the last 1960 LHD petrol 88" we know about.

Welcome to the club!

The car is originally from Norway. On the registration from there the date says 01-01-1960. We are busy to get Heritage document.

Welcome!
This is an easy going relaxed forum. We don't stand on ceremony! If you want to add an introduction, just a few lines telling us about your vehicle and how you use it is always if interest. The forum is broken down into sections, so please post in the relevant section which is pretty much self-explanatory.
If you want to add photos, please keep them ideally below 1Mb as some users live in remote areas with slow and expensive download speeds. You can do that using multiple online programs.

If you want to reply to a post and add an attachment or image, use the "REPLY" button at the bottom of the last post, not the "Quick Reply" function. The Quick Reply option does not give you the option to post attachments.

If unsure, by all means ask.
