Good evening all.
Just a quick note to introduce myself as the newbie James has been helping this past week!  Still to find my trucks engine number but haven't had a moment to myself this week.
Looking forward to meeting club members in time to come and knowing more about my S2a in due course.

I put on the original post.

The RETAINAGROUP scheme is secure and confidential and is backed by law enforcement agencies, who have instant 24/7 access to the International Security Register (ISR)

I suppose you get what you pay for.

Sweated more blood today and managed to load and move 4 engines to my store. Then sweated more blood off loading them.

You cannot view this attachment.

1 military grade reconditioned engine still in preservation state, 1 reconditioned civilian engine, 1 normal 24V military engine and a rather nice late Series 3 5Mb engine with 24 Volt electrics. Nice haul...

Back in the day the Police Crime Prevention team set up tents in supermarket car parks and did etchings for free!

Following on from that you could get a SmartWater kit and "paint" various components with the liquid as another level of protection. S2C members used to get a discount on the kits ???

Sorted out the recalcitrant sticking cheap and 'orrible placcy brake light switch plunger with a spray of silicone oil.
I'm fairly sure I've got a spare somewhere so will start a search for it.

Water based paint stripper takes it back one layer at a time, then with a gentle (if tedious) rub with a towel and rubber gloves for the stubborn bits.

I've done it before on the tub sides and wanted to see if a power wash after the stripper would help shift the paint quicker. Worked but too unreliable, wouldn't try that bit again.
