I have a December 1968 lightweight and I want to know what radiator to put in it.
Weeks of research has left me only puzzled.

The general service 1/2 ton rover 1 User handbook, published 1968, army no 22178:
Radiator with flat top, long stripes towards cap, does not list part numbers.

Illustrated spare parts list for 1/2 ton rover 1, published Nov 1970, army no 60595:
Image shows radiator with flat top, short stripes towards grill. I think it lists part number 577609.

Blanchards preprod has flat top with long stripes towards cap

I have found someone with a Dec 68 LWT, flat top with short stripes towards grill.
Wrongly dated but very early LWT with short stripes https://www.pauls-classic-cars.fr/wp-content/uploads/thememakers/cardealer/3/5370/main/63ff0d76aeeb6.jpg

Found another guy saying the short stripes is correct for 68

The only thing I'm sure of is that it's not the later round top style.
I think I'm looking for someone to talk some sense into me, or to point me towards an expert please?

Wittsend

I can only muddy the waters.

My LWT (January 1969) has this style of rad. Reconditioned by Northampton Rads (because that's near where the LWT was restored.

During army service the rad(s) could well have been replaced by something different to what it left the factory with - depending what was available from the stores at the time ???

For future readers, user O7BE16 has been helping me solve the puzzle.
The earliest lightweights were fitted with 568843: flat top, long stripes, angled bottom tap and an overflow.

Later contracts from WV9383 and WV9753 were fitted with the round top style.

Cannot thank Richard enough.
