General Discussion / Fbhvc survey
Last post by Ken - Today at 06:32 AM
Firstly, thanks to the club for sending through e mails about the survey.
Unfortunately trying to connect to the survey brings just a blank white page for me.
I assume it's because my I pad is 8 years old and systems have moved beyond its ability to update, but I'm unable to take part.

602's musings / Re: OT ... Are laptop charging...

Hi,

While logging on this AM (its currently 05.17 hours) the opening screen advertised a power cable for an ACER ASPIRE, at about £5.

Doh! My powerless laptop is an ACER SWIFT 1, but the picture of the Jack (jack?) plug looks like it will fit, but it will probably be safer to consult "Spotty Youth Esq." at Halfords, or wherever.

In the meantime, if anyone gets a mail from "SABRE SIX", it will be from Barbara, on my behalf. For nine years, she used a Sabre as her shopping car .... basically a plastic bodied Ford 10 special with a Zodiac 2.6 litre engine. Married for nearly 60 years, and I still wake up screaming.

No it's not a Birmingham area registration. I think it's YVJ which is Hereford.

YYJ is not a registration sequence used by the factory that I'm aware of.

Curious about survival rates I had a look on https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk.

It's not as bad as I thought.  In 1995 there were roughly 3 x as many 88s. On UK roads, seems those 'actual and active', hence licensed, today:

1880 = 109
9702 = 88

 I've ignored the SORN number - who knows how many of those declared SORN still exist? Thus, licensed, just over 5 x as many 88s survive.

It's also extremely useful for identifying bearings and seals.
