This doesn't answer the question, I quite like the starting handle eschuron on the s1s so I made one for my 2A Foxy out of some 1/4" steel plate ....

Series 1 bumpers are not as deep in profile as Series 2, I don't think they were ever fitted to series 2's, but would be happy to be corrected.

A friend of mine, who I would normally accept Land Rover wisdom from, told me that the very early Series 2s still had the Series 1 bumpers with the reinforced plate around the starting handle hole. He isn't sure when this ran out. Does anyone know how long they kept the reinforced starting hole or whether this was not normal and just happened to be the case for his early ones.

Thanks

Good afternoon all,
New member here.
I find myself in a similar situation.
I have a 2BFC HCB Angus Firefly on a Q plate.
Believed Manufactured in 1972, based on Chassis No., first registered in April 1987, purchased and SORN by me Jan 2019.
Tax Classification: Disabled.
MOT Status: No details held by DVLA.

I want to reduce Revenue Weight to 3499kg, correct Tax Classification and get it taxed as Historic, and get an age appropriate VRN.

Is this possible, how do I go about this?

Cheers,
Al

After steering was getting a little vague, and also because my mate came round I got him to sit in the 109 and rock the steering. I found 4 worn ball joints on the steering drag link and track rod.

I thought about trying to find some better  items, but to be honest bits the parts are not  expensive to do all 4, so will just be prepared to replace them regularly.
