Is that even a land rover. It's a land rover tub but not sure about the rest :confused
Yup - it is Gordon! Its an 88 with a widened cab and bulkhead. We think its an old BEA baggage loader conveyor. I started another thread on it. Main bits missing are front axle, engine, radiator bulkhead and LH wing.
Definitely a Land Rover! I know - I spent 2 hours wading about in shoulder high nettles to get at it.
Why was it widened, and how many more could it accommodate over standard given the 'santa sleigh' seat.
Side mounted read seat/s?
Surely bags were on a trailer or separate vehicle so this was for people only.
Condition not dissimilar to the recovery vehicle in front of the rally site in matlock.
I'm pretty sure it was a baggage conveyor. That would mean lowering the conveyor to move it about and for stowage. To keep the centre of gravity right, it makes sense to centralise the conveyor rather than put it to one side. Therefore the bulkhead and cab area has been widened by something like 4-5" each side.
I've never seen one on a LR before and I spent hours last night trawling the interwebbything and came up with nothing.
A weird one, but very interesting.
When I search BEA Land Rovers it came up with a picture of a 109 station wagon along side a plane, that I assume would be for crew or VIP's.
This type of Aircraft Loader is shown in 'Land Rover Series II and IIA Specification Guide' by James Taylor

Been pottering around the lanes near temple guilting today.
The Trough of Bowland, that bumper is straight must be the angle of the shot!
Broadway train station for a peep at the ironwork.
Brampton plough day 2023 today ( not mine )
I used to drive one when doing harvest work on the farm in my holiday. It helped to keep the clapped out automobilia I owned on the road.
Local tug of war teams used to train using a 45gallon drum filled with concrete, for warm up, then they added fordson cast front wheels one at a time.
Must have worked based on the silverware they won year on year.

I do hope no "Maltese Crosses" were harmed to get that 4-lamp setup! :teacher
Definitely not. Fitted to sides with pipe fittings so that grill can be removed without touching the lights :cool
Thought I'd offer up a photo from our trip to Iceland this July.
Winner 🏆
Do the pics have to be taken in September, or would an older photo do?
Resting waiting a new owner

Really they should be recent within the current month. If not it sort of becomes an anything goes out of control exercise.
I'm sure there are quite a few where we would never know how old they are. Its probably not a good idea to send in a picture of a LR in a Bluebell wood in September... You might get rumbled!

That reminds me of an episode of Bangers & Cash, when, towards the end of the programme and chasing up on a sale, we were shown the happy new owners out for a drive in their new purchase. It was raining and the director or camera operator (not the programme narrator) made a cheap jibe about going for a drive in our "
Great British summer". These oft repeated cheap digs at our summer weather really P me off.
However, those
incredibly funny people at B&C had failed to edit out the shots of daffodils. Not so funny now eh Mr Director :neener :))
Weekend in Powys. Penygarreg dam over flowing.

Lovely photo.
Does give you some idea of the forces of water and what those poor people in Derna went through.
Smokey September Sunday
Low cloud and smoke from wild fires hundreds of kilometers away.
Roadless.
Bonus gif of every s2 at the RS and Dunsfold today.
Clicking on the green one ^^^, I see a slideshow kind of thing, except its blooming quick, too quick to see, makes my eyes go all :confused
First time in daylight for 13 years, off to New owner.
George is ready for the off, just needs a driver. :cool

Two of my favorite British vehicles. (But I'm partial to the Blue one)
I know I've missed the English deadline to enter the contest, but its still officially September 30th over here that should count.........right.
I think there should be a steward's enquiry, but I'd vote to say yes! :cheers-man
Thank you Mr. Diffwhine
I am going on a 3 hour backroads scenic drive with the Victoria Jaguar club today, my rover is the official tow vehicle.......which reminds me I have to make up a sign for the back window stating that fact.
