I'm well pleased with the finish under the first undercoat. Temperatures today precluded a second coat. Maybe by Sunday.

I stripped the driver's wing lights. The Wipac sidelight's white backing disintegrated; perhaps it wasn't UV stable.

I fixed the badge on for the ride.

I recently bought a distributor from Embertons correct for an early 2.25 petrol Ninety.

When I dropped it into place, I was sure the rotor arm was pointing about 10 degrees away from where the old one was pointing.
The vehicle wouldn't start at all, so thinking I had made some sort of mistake, I put the vehicle back in the shed on the starter motor.

Fiddled with all the electrical components in the engine bay, on and off for several weeks, trying to find if anything else was at fault.

In the end a friend of mine brought over another new distributor (ex Allmakes) and we fitted it.

The rotor arm was about 10 degrees back from where Emberton's was.

Engine burst into life on the first turn.

Not impressed.😒

I've had that Emberton distributor for several weeks now, until I had time to get around to investigating the fault, so I guess I'd better speak to him soon.....🤔

Alan, they are for the Seies 1 engine that is to go in YOD and we're originally bought by my nephew along with some other stuff for the 48 engine.  Emberton  stuff is usually of very good quality.  Yes it is about how a company deals with problems and all I can say is that I found them excellent in that respect.

Wouldn't HT lead acorns be better bought from the Distributor Doctor ???

It's how the supplier behaves/reacts when they are informed of a problem that sets apart the good from the bad.

Col Coxy, it sounds like you have been quite unfortunate

The stuff I have had from him has been of excellent quality except for some HT "acorns" for a S1.  Not their fault though it was manufacturing problem.  I flagged it up with them and I was refunded.  When they got replacements from a different supplier I was asked to trial them.

Have you contacted them end explained your problem?

To be expected. I suspect that was Drew's idea.

I've never had any problems and I've had quite a few parts from them, especially the proper fuel gauge sender unit which works a treat.
I order by phone and always get a discount.

I would disagree I have had issues with a couple of items sent that were scrap.  A washer pump broke after a week and tonight I was delivered a new 2a wiper washer switch at a cost of just under thirty pounds and when I went to test it and get that satisfying click the switch face broke off I am glad I didn't fit it.  Not withstanding it wouldn't work but I would hate for the motor to catch fire as a result of substandard parts!
