Great video. I bought a new Niva when they first came out (LHD only available then). For what it was it was, off road it was brilliant, apart from the brakes being rather temperamental. Unfortunately, despite having it wax injected from new it soon began to dissolve. Lesson learnt :shakinghead

Hi Worf,

I have seen it suggested that Russia paid for a FIAT factory with Russian steel. Discuss!

Absolutely true. Who remembers the soluble Lancia Beta which rusted out after about 9 months?
It was the downfall of Lancia.

Yes do remember the self dissolving Lancia , when I started work in Wembley there was a Lancia showroom once someone dumped a Beta on pavement opposite don't think they sold many afterwards it was rusting all over

Those of you old enough to remember the late 50s and early 70s will probabbly remember the vauxhalls that disappeared before your eyes, it was blamed on belgian steel

I knew a bloke with a Beta Monte Carlo which was on my list of dream cars when I was 14 . I've no idea how long it lasted but I don't imagine it was long

I remember the 50's Vauxhalls. The PA 3 rear window Cresta was the one most youngsters wanted their parents to buy but at the time no one knew it self dissolved.
The early F series Victors had the exhaust exiting through the nearside chrome overrider but that was quickly changed when the overrider dissolved in the exhaust gasses.
