As said, one heck of a nice looking trailer, regardless of whether you can take it anywhere  :RHD

There is no denying that its a sturdy bit of tackle, it wont blow away in the wind.

I half expected to see a timber floor but the ribbed alloy or steel shows its a bit more modern.

They are towed by 3 ton 4x4 trucks.I had lots of fun doing sutch things while serving in Royal engineers in the 60/70s.

Hi Len,

Our RAF Bedford SL (4x2) were "described" as "3 tonners", and our Bedford RL (4x4) were described as "7 tonners". This despite them having similar cabs and presumably chassis. The RLs stood appreciably taller, so I assume the springs or whatever were taller.
What ever, it was great fun driving an RL, "off the clock", hand on horn, through a football match. I had my reasons, but apart from some fist shaking, nobody seemed unduly concerned.

I dropped my passenger, suffering from a sting ray, or rock fish, or WHY, at sick quarters, parked the truck in the MT yard, and went for tiffin.

I have recently found a photo of that truck, with a rear wheel deep in the sand, surrounded by a bunch of "erks". As I was the driver, I set off at a steady jog trot towards camp, probably five miles away. A Arab 4x4 stopped to give me a lift to the camp gates. I gave the driver an informal salute (I wasn't wearing my beret), and nodded my head to his "bint"(wife),or "binta" (daughter), sitting in the back. She was in full "black tent with yashmack" regalia. Lovely eyes. I'm sure she was laughing at my very ragged swimming trunks, and nothing else ... my flip flops were still in my hand.

"Does anybody here remember the song "Mad Dogs and Englishmen, go out in the Moonday Sun"? b] ALEXA may have it in her repertoir (sp?)
