Hi,

"Jump on a plane!" did somebody say?

The last time Barbara (6 months pregnant) and I jumped on a long-haul plane, it was in 1967, Singapore to Heathrow. Bristol Britannia turbo fan, troop ship (narrow aisle due to extra row of seats. 26 hours).

Our Malaysian mongrel had gone ahead in a QANTAS 707. £700 ... then about 9 months UK salary.

I suppose the Britannia made up for myself and two other "Ercs" making up the numbers in an RAF VIP Comet, from RAF Lynham to Aden, in 1961. Very smooth, 550knots at 41,000ft. Sky was black. Edge of Space?

VIP? All the other passengers were Generals, and RAF/RN equivalents.

Hmmm! Three interesting aircraft in my imaginary log-book. Tiger Moth, Comet, and Beverly. I'll ignore the plethora of Ansons and Oxfords, several Britannia, and a Fokker Friendship (Penang to Singapore).
