A big thank you to the people that take the time to publish their pictures in KBs instead of poster sized MBs.

Noted. I'll try to remember to resize images before posting. In my (our) defense: it's so easy, convenient to post images as they are. Just drag 'em to your post or reply, done. But you're absolutely right, they take up a lot of expensive space, and a lot of expensive time to load when you're not on broadband. And it is doable in Paint (Microsoft) or Preview (Mac). Linux-users, I presume, are by the choice of their OS, tech-savvy enough to know their way around resizing images...

What I do after taking a picture on my iPhone is to email it to myself.

In this process when sending you get 4 (size) options.

1) Small
2) Medium
3) Large
4) Actual Size

Option (3) Large will resize the image to sensible proportions.

On receiving the email (only takes a few seconds to arrive) You can save the image to your desktop and from there attach it to a forum post.

Doesn't really take much time or faffing around. done a few times it soon becomes 2nd nature.

You can practise in the Forum Test Area.

Hi,

From this Techno Wimps viewpoint, it would be easier (for me) if my camera could do this before/during downloading my pics into my PC.

I wish I knew what I am suggesting.  ???

If I'm not mistaken on Android phones you can lower the image resolution of the camera. From a website: open the Camera app, click Settings in the lower left corner and select Resolutions. But as I don't have an Android device, I can't tell you which options you can choose from – and if the lowest resolution offered by Android is any help at all...

On iPhone 15 models you could go to "Settings  > Camera > Formats > Photo Mode, then" choose 12 MP, which would result in an approximately 1,4 MB picture, so not much help...

Hm, there's another way on iPhone (and maybe Android) to reduce image size and that is to take a screenshot (in screen resolution, which is smaller than the camera resolution) of a picture you took with the camera: "Take a photo using the default camera app and load a full screen preview of the photo after you take it. While holding down the "Home" button, press the "On/Off" button briefly until the screen flashes white, indicating a screenshot was taken" (from Chron. at https://smallbusiness.chron.com/changing-megapixels-iphone-47183.html , can't provide you with a neat link in Edit mode...)
