Hi,

My apologies, I've been doing my thing on the drawing board, sketching the plans of my bungalow + garage, in some detail, in preparation for moving the bathroom into the garage.

Our present bathroom is five feet (60") by six feet (72"), which was probably adequate when built.

I doubt that the garage was ever adequate, being only 9ft (108") wide externally, minus four inch brick walls each side, reduced by a four inch pier, each side, which  leaves a smidgen more than 8ft. To put that into context, parking bays in public car parks are required to be at least 8ft wide, but with no wall, you can usually borrow a bit of each of the neighbouring bays.

Half my garage would give me an 8ft square bathroom ... room for most white goods, including a "scatter can" (Gentleman's urinal), which will cut down on water consumption.

Doh! My ladies chucked me out of the bedroom .... and are now demanding my return.

I will return here in a few minutes, with a 602 type query.

Hi,

I struggle to log-on, probably a combination of senility and dyslexia. Sometimes I get here, sometimes Wilkie gets a kicking. I'm not sure which is the more satisfying?

Hi,

Latest adventure ... planning to go electric ... charging point nailed to the side of our house.

The man from Hyundai was supposed to visit with a battery powered car to demonstrate. He never arrived. Barbara complained. Manager apologised, but told her that they NOW do not have any cars for sale, next delivery will be two or three weeks. Hmmm!

Now thinking of a new WAV. The VAT exemption will just about equal the cost of conversion (which MUST include extensive welding). I cannot find the local WAV specialist on the internet ... maybe they are not advertising over the holiday? Gibbo! Can you advise?

The battery powered CITROEN AMI starts at £8,000, but I suspect it will be a "2 plus 2 sprogs" layout. I believe Barbara could still drive if she was able to get into a car, though a clutch pedal would not be desirable. Hmmm! A new AMI each? Perhaps not!

I'm being called away to watch Heartbeat on the telly. No peace!

All suggestions considered.

I am sure if you have a look at Motability cars you will find plenty of options.
The 'welding' you mention will probably include ramps or accessible seats.
I've seen one fitted to a small MPV (Doblo) that came out of the car like a hoist, the driver slides over from a wheelchair into the car seat.
The wheelchair was then folded and hoisted behind the driver through the rear sliding side door.
Probably expensive, but very clever and shows what can be done.

John, as far as I am aware the nearest WAV conversion company is in Leighton Buzzard. There is a company in Shefford that supplies second hand WAVs.

Hi All,

Thanks for replies.

I did try, buy all my "results" faded away.
