Hi All, Is there a reason the bottom lip of the front wing panel is folded back.
Sold a few of these years ago and couldn't figure out why it was like that, looks like it's been stood on.
The orinal wings on mine the fold is a right angle.

I've got two new complete inner wing assemblies which are original 1960s stock and they both have a fold back on the leading edge like your one. I would have thought that such a roll is stronger than a simple right angle bend.

Correct, it is stronger & helps keep it straight

Additional tyre clearance as well with 7.50 tyres at full articulation on full lock?  ???

Just looked at the photos of my IIA rebuild and the wings are 90° bend all the way along. Maybe I straightened them out, really can't remember now.

My 1960 originals were straight/flat, the later replacements were folded up like that.

Mine is a 1960 build as well and is a flat right angle, maybe changed with introduction of 2a vehicles.

The new panels I've just had from paintman are a simple right angle bottom edge.

I would have thought there must be another reason as a right angle is very rigid anyway, looking at the panel its much easier to bend across the bottom.

1965 original wings - both sides have this roll back.

Looks like there's another new headache for the rivet counters out there then. What year did that change?

I wonder if it is a feature created to avoid large tyre impact under certain conditions? They modified the Air Portable front bumper for the same reason and it is roughly in the same area.

Suffix H Dormy no roll back and none on the S111 wings of the Bitsa. A modification tried and then dropped?

Maybe that is why I straightened mine out if I indeed did straighten them out.

You can see my panels are not 100% flat. I had to do a bit of panel beating around the front wings to make them presentable and as I had a series 3, I probably looked under that and assumed they we meant to be flat.

Not sure I'll be modifying them again now though....

My original 1960 wings.

I have NOS Leyland era built complete wings and they have fold back as well.

I never noticed this, I always thought the ones with the fold were from tyres hitting it or something!

my 64 wings are straight and my 67 are folded :RHD

I have a few series 3 wings laying around too.. and all those are straight again ???
