Sorry,

I didn't answer the question ...

...

Every so often, the local rebels would "hit" one of the Huzzar's Ferret "scout cars" (armoured cars to you and me) with a land mine. The RAF would respond by "buzzing" the rebel camps at low level, with their Hawker Hunter fighter jets.

That meant flying low down the valleys, with the Bad Guys firing down on them, taking some hits.

Ask your Dad (or maybe Google) to explain what a "Goolie Chit" is.

I got my General Service with Arabia Peninsular clasp for that "do", followed a few years later with something similar for the Malaysian Peninsular ... my Bloodhound Missiles were defending the Australians at RAAF Butterworth ... they were fighting in Vietnam. The Malaysian Prime Minister awarded the Pingat Jassa to medal the Commonwealth troops based at Butterworth ...questions were asked in THE HOUSE, as that meant us receiving two medals for one campaign ... and we wouldn't want that ... would we?

Parliament eventually "backed down).  :cheers-man

Our new Ausie CO did not arrive, from 'Nam' ... believed shot down.

Hi,

I believe we have several other other members of this forum who also were awarded the PINGAT JASAH medal from the Malaysian Prime Minister, despite already having received General Service Medal with Malaysian Peninsular clasp.

Us Brits are not allowed to hold two medals for the same campaign. Questions were asked "in the House", but HMG eventually wound their necks in.

Medals awarded by Foreign Governments should be worn on the right breast.

OT. My mate had to deal with a request for the issue of a Victoria Cross, won by one of his forebears at Waterloo. Everything checked out, so he approved its issue. He also mentioned a British Squaddy, who rolled up on parade wearing an Iron Cross (originally award to his grandfather in WW1.)

Another OT post.
Approaching one year anniversary of my Daughter being hit in her car on a roundabout by an Amazon van and still not resolved.
Driver didn't stop but not a Police issue. We have video but does not show reg' number so Amazon won't help.
It even appears to be to much effort for her own insurer. Makes you wonder why we bother !   :thud
