The PO had, a long time ago, painted stonechip into the inside wheel arches of the tub, probably to reduce noise. Is there any value in doing this, and if so, what product?  I'm going to insulate the inside of the tub anyway.

The OE factory finish was just bare alloy, with an Aldine (IIRC) treatment.

Rather than stone chip I would use Waxoyle or Lanogaurd ???

Sound deadening inside the tub would be a good idea - thick stable mats or old conveyor belt.
