Hi, I'm looking for a Solex carb or britpart carb in the Gloucester area please. Or a good independent who may stock one?

I'm currently away in Gloucester for a holiday, we are in the landrover.

Unfortunately my solex carb has developed a fuel leak, one of the brass fittings at the front of the carb.the threads are pretty stripped and the fibre washer is in poor condition. (Only rebuilt by carb exchange last year).

I have a few bodges yet to try but thinking about options for finding a replacement to get us home.

Regards.

I have one near Devizes, but no way of getting it to Gloucester for you.
It's been in the workshop a while so will need a clean.
Pm me if I can help

I have a couple in Evesham. It's about 40 mins away. I'd be able to shoot over in the car tomorrow evening to drop them off if you find yourself stuck with no other options.

Again, these are untested and of unknown quality. No idea the condition of the fibre washers etc. But are original solex carbs for the vehicle. You might be able to use parts or a complete carb to get yours going again. I'd not be looking to sell one, I'd prefer to get it back, but you'd be welcome to borrow it while you get yours sorted.

Pretty sure that I can help too on that one, but getting it too you could be the issue.
Whereabouts in Gloucestershire are you?

If by a Britpart carburettor you mean a Zenith copy then it won't fit without an adapter and the throttle linkage is different.

Thank you Alan, The hope was to find a whole set up as potentially more of them about than the original solex. Looking like i may have plenty of options now 🤞
