Afternoon all ,

Daft question, what are the arrows on my headlight lenses for ? Is it something to do with beam direction?
If anyone knows please end my curiosity.

Yes, it indicates the way that they dip.

Brill thanks . Am I to take it then they are indeed correct lights for a right hand drive vehicle ?

Correct. It means they dip to the left so as not to blind oncoming traffic passing on the right.

Great thanks to both for that . It has been tested before in the distant past but now starting to approach the end of my restoration and last time I looked at them for some reason I thought I must find out about them arrows as I don't want any issues at test time .

Don't get me started on that, seems there's an arms-race on out there. Just plain outright eye-splitting dazzle is not enough, dear me no.. that's 'old hat' - that'd be for whoopsies. We've moved on... now we're waiting to see which manufacturer gets first dibs to nail on the full football-stadium light-rig. In red as well,  as soon as we hit the brake-lights.

I wouldn't mind, but I read some of you are putting Super-White LEDs on a Series. Fine for side-lights I suppose, but for head-lights? This at LR Series speeds? Simply daft, the issue is the voltage-drop over stock wiring and two switches. Simple cure -  two relays - One for dip; one for main; thus iffy wiring and dodgy dip/main & light switch by-passed. You're done.

I have installed super white LED bulbs on my Series 3 and it's entirely my choice.  See and be seen even at so called "LR speeds!" It saves faffing about with relays and extra wiring and best of all the current draw is considerably less which, even with relays, remains the same for the standard set up.
Then there's the advantage of being able to see further ahead picking out the idiot cyclists without lights or the pedestrian in dark clothing walking with their back to oncoming traffic instead of facing it. With the dim standard lights you'd be a lot closer before you spotted them.
