Actually Victor you are another 4 Kgs stronger than you thought !!

Confession time - as my gearbox is in bits I missed a small tub of parts and forgot to add onto the scales the intermediate transfer gear plus bearings and shaft.

So I must revise my gearbox weight :

A 1958 gearboxbox to include transfer box and drive flanges but no external gear levers weighs 58.25 Kgs or 128.4 Lbs

Which according to my extremely useful unit conversion app I've just downloaded is 291,250 carats... :thud

Thank you. An interesting discussion even if I did mix up my units. Considerably lighter than I thought. Even a 0ne Tonne box won't be a lot heavier, so it was a good exercise. All credit to the Weightwatchers scales.

It is a known phenomenon that gearboxes get heavier as you get older.

I have recently tested this theory, in person..... :tiphat

I'll second that - I've just moved 4 in a boiling hot container this afternoon. Definitely heavier than they used to be.
