Is a 7 pin the norm on civi towing? Thanks

Yes for standard trailers. Modern cars and trailers will have a 13 pin Euro plug as opposed to split S and N type electrics. N type is the 7 pin trailer lighting socket. S type is the caravan / split charge electrics feed. You can get adapters to switch between the two.

Anyone know the sizes on the nuts bolts and washers I need for the plate and hook and stuff, I don't feel like buying 8 nuts and 8 bolts for £25 on the bay....  :RHD

The main bolts holding the tow ball these days are M16 by something like 90mm. You need to check that. The recommended process is to fit two nuts on each bolt locking one against the other rather than relying on spring washers. I'm not sure what other fixings you need, so perhaps some images of what you have?

Tow electrics are usually held in by 3 M6 long bolts, but some use M5 bolts.

Imperial equivalents of all are available. Just make sure you allow at least 2 clear turns of thread at the end of each bolt after everything is tight.

You probably need to do some bolt measuring!
