Have just finished strip down of main gearbox and transfer box. From what I read I have the fairly common problem of the 3 / 4 gear bush on the main shaft torn itself apart. Looking on line there are replacement one piece bushes and also replacements that come in two pieces. With the two piece options at least it can't shear itself in two again but does feel right that there is nothing to stop one half of the bush rotating on the main shaft without lubrication ? Does anyone have any thoughts on what is the best option here ?

Also any recommendations on best parts suppliers for gearbox parts ?

All the best

One piece or two piece it doesn't matter too much but just buy the best ones you can. PA Blanchards had genuine LR in stock which is where I used to buy them but I'm not sure they have any anymore. I would only go genuine with these bushes personally (I now make my own instead)

I've used the two piece version a number of times and find them just fine.

They are a good price which is great but more importantly they fit nicely / easily and last well too.

The one piece part was originally from the Rover car gearbox .
I have recently purchased two from Heritage parts they look very good but I have not got around to fitting them yet.
Just checked and they only have the two part one now.
