  Hi

I have a friend who is starting a Series 1 restoration and he would like to know from me where to get series 1 parts.
Mostly engine, brake, steering, transmission etc. He has lots of body parts and 3 good frames.
I said I dont know but have friends who could likely make some good suggestions.
 So any suggestions?
Is the series 1 club any good? Worth joining?

  Thanks  Victor

Definitely worth joining the Series 1 Club, but I would say that as I'm an area rep for the club.

Definitely they should join the LRSOC. There is a mine of useful information both on the website and the forum, much like here. The LRSOC shop is a full commercial exercise and is very good for those hard to get parts. The club doesn't have discounts with suppliers as far as I am aware. A Series 2 Club discount with the likes of Paddock could be useful, but the main carriers of S1 parts are predominantly John Craddock and P.A. Blanchard.

Aside from that there are many of us on here who have a foot in both camps, so feel free to pose the odd question on here. There is also a big LRSOC network in the US and Canada.

He should join the LRSOC and its forum (does it have a Facebook page?🤔

Information and Series One Parts suppliers in their Magazine .

I am sure that, as on here, he will get tips and help on their forum.

He should buy a Parts and Workshop Manual - because Googling part numbers can be a good start.

Engine, brake, steering and transmission parts are unlikely to be cheap.

Nothing Series 1 is cheap, well not for my 53 80 inch its not.
Will be happy to get it finished and onto my 64 2a. I have lots of spare bits for those.  :cheers-man

I presume you are in Canada.

In the UK, Cox and Turner, although for reconditioned rockers and new camshafts go direct to Newma cams who provide all that to Cox and Turner. CKDCshop and Tom Pickford are good sources

I'm a member of the series one club and own an 86"
It is worth joining. They have a good forum much like this one but I believe it is restricted to paid up members only. They do have a facebook page as well.

I use a mix of PA Blanchard, John Craddocks, Vintage LR, LR Optional equipment, etc. I have used the LRSOC shop for a few things so far as well. Paddock Spares have also started a series one section although it's mainly parts that are shared with later models but useful as the series 2 discount code also works.
If you want chassis parts, you can't get better than Dale and Carl Radford in Scotland.
Jones springs make leaf springs to the original specifications but be prepared for around £600 a set.

I haven't bought a chassis, I repaired the original. Richards seem to be the only people making them and they know it, twice the price of a series 2 or 3, 88" chassis.
Water pump was refurbished by EP Services.

I didn't use Cox and Turner myself for my engine rebuild, used all old stock parts from Blanchards but heard they do good things, maybe not the cheapest.

A lot of brakes, steering, gearbox, axle components are shared with later models so worth getting a parts catalogue and checking the numbers before forking out for "authentic" series one parts just to find you receive later parts that are compatible.

Any photos of it?

Craig.

You dont have to a club member to join the S1 forum, but do have to register to get proper access to it.

Thanks everyone I will pass all this info to him.

No photos of them yet, possibly next week when he gets them into his shop.

Yes I am in Canada on the "wet coast" and its raining as we speak.

I also used Turner and Cox, great companie to deal with.

  Thank Victor

Pangolin 4x4 down here in Oregon is a great source for Series parts in general, but S1 stuff in particular. He has quite the fleet of trucks of his own, including a fantastic driving 80" that was a breeze through the RTV Trials course at the ANARC Rally outside of Bend this past year.
