That's pretty shocking really! Just shows that people will try to sell any old tat. I once heard that GQ Magazine staff sold a bucket of water on eBay just to prove the point.

Does "diecast" go rusty? Or is this a model painted to look rusty?

I once read a story about a classic car, bought to be restored, that turned out to
have an aluminium body that had been painted "yellow ochure" (sp?).

Probably zinc chromate primer. Was widely used on ally, especially on aircraft as anti corrosive. I have the remains of a very large can that I have been using since before H&S was invented. Lovely stuff. Not got me yet, but I have never tried drinking it.
