"Compounding" paint

Not on a S2, but pretty general.

I have recently collected an old vehuicle back from the bodyshop, where it was resprayed in 2pack, after I did all the prep work. Left it a couple of months to harden. Overall he has done a splendid job (far better than my efforts) but there are a few matt "dry" areas. I have been using fine cutting compound and a machine polisher on these areas but it is very slow work.

As an experiment I tried a small area by hand with T-cut and it polished up far quicker. I always thought compound was more agressive than t-cut  

Can you use t-cut instead of compound if you are careful on a machine??

I think it depends on exactly which cutting compound you are using.
I have a fancy oscillating mop and use it with farecla compounds, but I find T cut by hand  works better in many situations.
T cut and my electric mop do not get on well together, I don't know why. Tried it but without good results.
The farecla compounds use a bit of water when applying them, this might be the difference from T cut?
2 pack is notoriously tough!
