I would suggest that no matter what elderly LR we are driving, considering ourselves safe on modern roads might be somewhat questionable!

All the more reason to potter along on back roads 

Personally, the A1 will be my route south to Fakenham. I can get 70 out of my beastie but well, why?? Tootling and pootling with roof and door tops off seems so much more civilised.

On the other hand, speed may be higher on the motorway, but there's less risk of someone overtaking on your side of the road, overtaking you and cutting you off when he runs out of chevron markings, backing up on the road from a driveway forcing the cyclist on the bicycle track next to the road to swerve right in front of you, from the opposite direction turning right, overestimating self and underestimating your speed, seeing the mountain ridge of a speed ramp he has to cross too late, and slamming on the brakes right in front of you, like I had a few days ago. I was able to avoid him, but it was a narrow escape...

Driving is a dangerous business, more so when you drive a car without crumple zones, padding, (curtain) airbags, seat belts with pretensioner, ABS, ...

I find the A17, A15 (bypass round Lincoln now), Humber Bridge and on to York a more relaxing and scenic route more suited to Land Rover cruising and fuel consumption.

Galvanised upper seat belt brackets

Made by a guy in Suffolk near Ipswich.





Here they are in my LWT.
I'm sure they would fit into a standard 2A tub.


 

Has anyone fitted these to a series 1 (80)?
