I seem to have about half of the bits to reinstall the go faster button. Got a brand new Weber carb with the purchase. Is there an easy, safe alternative to all those levers?  Cable?  Thoughts!

Yes, The Defender used a cable system. It is easy to make up an adaptor plate to fit the accelerator pedal, but probably a little more thought needed at the carb end. I don't know if the cable holder and levers from the Defender's twin-choke Webber can be used somehow ?

Yes you can put a cable throttle system in place of the levers,
That's what I did on the 69 Nada I had never seen such a complicated arrangement of cranks rods and levers to go from the left hand side of the vehicle over to the right hand side.
The local auto parts store makes up throttle cable assemblies complete with what ever ends you want, that was the easy part, you have to make the custom brackets to hold everything in place.

The 62 now has a single barrel Weber and I made the original Solex throttle rods work and they work okay.
