Hi
I was told at the land rover was purchased by the electricity board straight from the factory. When I look in the tub under Solid Riveted Galvanised Capping I can see orange paint now everywhere I look there is orange paint underneath things et cetera. Did Land Rover paint any vehicles orange as I can't see any reason why taking the galvanised capping of and putting it back also under the seat box and the vehicle is all so orange. If so what colour with the wheels be any ideas. If the vehicle was painted orange do I take it to a paint manufacturer to get colour match or would they be a Land Rover special colour?

Mycroft

If you let me know the chassis number, I can tell you what colour it left the factory on my next trip to Gaydon (Friday) if its not already in the Club database. Can send me a message or email me at [email protected].

Thanks. Going through the factory records, I've come across many unusual colours, but none specifically labelled 'Orange' so far.

I'll let you know what I find on Friday evening.

Cheers

When I spoke to LR back in the early 70's , if you ordered a batch of six or more , special colours were possible. My uncle purchased an old green 88" 2A & that was Douglas ( The Construction company) orange underneath.

Evening, I've just sent you a message, but the original colour was a new one on me - Marigold!

Thank you for the information it makes my mind up as to what colour to paint, I will no longer say been tangoed but I will call at the Marigold machine. I will send you the information you requested tomorrow. There is some more pictures I suppose my next step is to find a company in Warrington where I can get the paint mixed to the original colour.

Amazing - so is the burnt orange colour the remnants of the original Marigold or is that a repaint done by a PO?

I'm now wondering what a Marigold s2 will look like. Series 2/2as were sent out in quite a few versions of yellow that I know of - Yellow, Highway Yellow, Wimpey Yellow, Caterpillar Yellow and Golden Yellow, but yours is the only Marigold I've yet come across.

Small world, I lived in Penketh, on Station Road, for a number of years when I was younger. All of my extended family are still there. Shame, but I don't know any paint mixers in Warrington anymore. I'm enjoying seeing the updates of marigold though. Keep it up!
