I worked for an insurance company, albeit briefly, some twenty months, at the claims department, and this doesn't "sound" like an insurance company, not even a bad one. I can't imagine coverage in the UK differs (much) from that "on the continent". I shouldn't assume, but I assume with a new car you went for allrisk coverage, and in that case you shouldn't have to pay for a replacement vehicle. A dog is irrelevant. I've payed a premium for bringing a dog into a hotel, but a hired car? Never! Are you sure you contacted the insurer?

Bumpers don't cost too much. Paint adds ££ and fitting even more so.
However the big worry is insurers are all to keen to write off electric cars. Just in case !   ???

I've read right back through this topic and saw that you didn't see the tow truck but did the driver have any logos on his clothing and did he show any form of id?

When they towed your car away - well they wouldn't, it would have gone on a transporter, a recovery vehicle.

When they loaded your vehicle they would have asked for the keys ???

And left details of themselves, with some documentation.

If not, your vehicle has been stolen, part of some scam - contact the police  :plod

There was nothing really wrong with the car, so it could have just been driven away ?

Hi,

Correction ... my car was trailered away, but I didn't notice what the towing vehicle was.

Yesterday, Barbara seemed to have made contact with whoever has my car. They indicated it would be returned either yesterday (it wasn't) or today. (I'm not holding my breath).

Idle thoughts ... Barbara used to have a Honda CRX (a little silver bullet), which impressed a friend so much that he bought a Honda HRV (top of the Honda range) ... said it was the best car he had ever owned.

Memory tells me that the Honda "bottom of the range" model, The Honda JAZZ had an excellent reputation. I wonder if its still in production?

Yes, it's called a Honda Jazz e-HEV now. Jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny (Frank Zappa).

Car manufacturers tend to keep a good (brand) name for a successful series of cars - e.g. Mini

The new Honda Jazz will have nothing in common nor look like the original model.

Not all car names live on ... The Ford Edsel didn't last long  :shakinghead

Nowadays computers and AI pick neutral names - often totally meaningless and/or a group of random letters  :thud  :thud

Gone are the days of names like "Nova" which means "no go" in Spanish.

Possibly.  :))

But more like the Latin for new.

As in Nova Scotia.

Didn't the Pajero mean something unsuitable in Spanish?!

It does indeed and "tosser" is the only term I'm allowed to write here. There are others.
