Sleepless night - partial eclipse of supermoon

Couldn't sleep last night partly due to lingering effects of a possible slipped disc...

Spent 2hrs from 1:30AM photographing the developing partial eclipse of the supermoon instead. Low res shot attached.

Olympus OM-1 mk1, Olympus 300mm f4 IS Pro with MC20 (2.0x) teleconverter. 80Mp high res composite shot, tripod stabilised with 15sec timer delay. ISO250 (ish - I'd need to double check), Custom WB of 4800K. Manual focus using focus-peeking and magnify to assist.

Nice! Beautiful picture of the melon in the sky. I have an Olympus OM-D EM1, with a behemoth manual the size of La recherche du temps perdu. I'm still loosing time trying to figure out what I have to do, where, when and mainly how. You're way ahead of me.

My camera is a Nikon D5500 with 18-55 lens. I have a Pentax MX with motordrive but the 5 lights that indicate correct exposure are faulty. No fancy lenses for either but I was fast asleep when the eclipse occurred.

I've never manage to get moon pics, with my old Nikon D3100.
TBH I've had better images with a pin hole.

Just a pity your thumb got in the way of the lens 😂

It's the stuff of dreams compared to the kit I grew up with - equivalent of a 1200mm (1.2m!) 35mm lens with the teleconverter and image stabilisation so good you can hand hold it for most (daylight) things.

Only about the third or fourth clear night I can remember since we moved three months ago too!
