I recently helped a good buddy to rescue his '68 2A which has been sitting out in a field for 14 years.
It's had its paint removed at some stage (which looks great). I'd like to celebrate one more Landy found in nature and now en route to rebuild.

Absolutely superb! Congratulations.

You're right, it does look good in bare metal!

Nice fine and recovery. Good to see another one saved! Is it a Dublin 1968 reg?

Do you know anything about the history of that vehicle? Reason for asking is that it seems very familiar to me. I'm searching through old family photos trying to find an image from our farm in Wicklow in the 1970s which shows our Series 2 and 2A Land Rovers. I can only find one very blurry one so far and the plate is indistinguishable thanks to several braces of dead pheasants slung over the front wing!

Yes it's a 1968 Dublin reg number and to the best of our knowledge it has been residing in County Wicklow for a very long time. We have since sourced and rescued its previously fitted catflap equipped hard top.
Its logbook says original colour was white, which is a bit of a rarity.

That would make sense. There wasn't a dealer in Wicklow in those days so you had to go to Dublin to buy most vehicles. Bizarrely there was an Alfa Romeo dealer near us, but no Rover!
We had a light coloured LR and a dark green one. The green one was a soft top, but I think the light coloured one was a hard top. I was too young - I can't remember if it was white or light green. All the photos are in black and white! Still can't see a reg plate!

Excellent, well done!

Best of luck to your friend on the work ahead.

Is a full restoration planned or just do what's needed to get it back running/driving? The bodywork looks good in the front end picture anyway.

The full decision has not been made yet as to what it will be built to. It has already had a 3.5 Rover fitted.
I really like the plain alloy panels. I have never seen one in the nude before.

DW, I can't speak for Ireland, but around these parts the plural of brace is brace.

Braces are what holds yer trousers up!  ;)

Nice find, that Irish SIIA.  :cheers-man

Probably right on that one.
