I successfully refitted my 88's front output shaft housing after freeing off the stuck pivot shaft 233408. I reinstalled the transmission tunnel and enjoyed the lever popping up and down as it should.

Storm Bert (whatever cretin comes up with storm names?) put the kybosh on all Land Rover activities today. It wasn't very bad here but it's far worse west and north of here. I hope members in these areas are coping.

Down here on the lizard it's not too bad. We tend to judge wind strength by the noise it makes over the big chimney. It's just another Atlantic storm here with strong winds. A really strong one booms over the chimney, nowhere near that at present.
I think the Americans name hurricanes as they are sometimes tracking several at once. Here storms come singly, naming them is daft, just an attempt at sensationalising winter.
On the theme of what have you done etc which is what this thread is about. I've been in the workshop making a valve spring compressor. My traditional type won't even look at them. I've made up a spigot to drop down a cylinder head bolt hole (1/2 inch diameter bar) and the lever will attach to that and is about 20 inches long so I'm hopeful it will work. If not it's over to west Cornwall engines !

I've been checking my spare parts (the Land Rover not me).
