Evening all,

A Christmas gathering for Land Rovers was organised by Land Rovers of London, beginning at 9:30 yesterday (Sunday).  My vehicle is down so I cycled in.  It was quite a gathering.  Hard to estimate numbers, but certainly hundreds of vehicles.  Speaking to a few owners they had travelled some way from across southern England.

By far most were Defenders but there were, in numbers diminishing as age increased, Series 3s, 2s and 1s.  It seems considerable effort went into adornments.  Below are a few photos.  Are either of the Series 2s known?  There was a 1961 109 lettered as Marconi Fire Station or Service (I forget) which I didn't photograph.  Anyone know it?  Perhaps an ex-factory unit?  I think it had travelled from Malvern.

In a way I was glad not to drive as the streets were pretty jammed.  Not sure how long it took to disperse or how the drive went!

James.

I was tempted to travel from Kent in my RRC, however it's a couple of years off being ULEZ exempt, and on principle refuse to pay the fee, and with questionable weather, I decided to sculk off to the workshop and finish building my steering box, it did look like a great turnout though!

Was in London over the weekend saw this one yesterday, took me by surprise didn't get my phone out quick enough.
Was heavy rain not long after the pic.

This is so good to see. In a world of top-down authoritarian measures like ULEZ, congestion charges, 15 minute cities, ethanol in petrol, EV coercion and the rest, a simple old Landy driving through London feels almost like an act of rebellion. That or wilful foolishness, given the subsequent drenching!

Hi chughes, interesting to see you're in Wandsworth.  As I'm in Battersea we ought to meet sometime.

The pastel green 109" belongs to a young guy called Henry from memory - I used to follow him on instagram. No idea if he is a club member or not ???

Could you post it up on here when you hear about the next one? We could go as a S2 group.  :RHD
