Left tractor for a bit to mess with steering. Again. Went to mot the family Toyota and came away having bought a Defender. As you do.

Avert your eyes purists.

I've always been a sucker for German square weave carpets in a car. And since the bulkhead is modified for the V8 it seemed like a treat to have a set of custom floor mats made that fit the footwells properly. (I have a rubber set for muddy days out on the green lanes still)

Having deduced that the wren's contributions are falling from a great height I blocked the perch with a bit of 2x2, then kicked my heels a bit before getting stuck into the sanding and paint prep of the truck cab rear panel.

Quote from: Countryview on Dec 22, 2024, 06:45 PMThose parts have come up well! What degreaser are you using? I've just got some Swarfega Jizer and pretty impressed but still not as good as the old school degreasers!

Thanks, I've used a combination of panel wipe/thinners, wire brush on a Dremel for the small/intricate bits and gentle use of a wire knot wheel on a grinder. Once all the loose was removed I treated any remaining rust ready for primer and paint. Time consuming but satisfying 👍

Whilst pottering about today loosening bolts off ready for the imminent roof and tub removal I took a break to check the clutch slave and see why the clutch pedal was solid. After copious amounts of penetrating fluid I loosened the bleed nipple, pushed the clutch pedal which moved easily and fired a nice stream of fluid out of the nipple. Tightened it all up again and the pedal is solid. Thought I may as well loosen off the slave cylinder bolts as it'll probably need removing/replacing. It came off relatively easily and I removed the rubber cover which revealed the bottom of the slave to be full of crud. Hopefully that's the issue 👍

Nice, no, very nice! Beautiful colour combination, the light beige against the dark bronze green. But a bit of a mud magnet maybe? Although it being wool, it should be relatively easy to clean...

Took the family, plus one and three terriers off to the sand dunes for a fabulous walk. Mrs A, not usually a fan of the SII was very happy. I cannot claim credit for the picture as I was driving.

Happy Christmas all

My Britpart smoke came in a blue box, rather than a bottle.

Couldn't smell a thing, so I sent it back.
