You are more or less on the right track, but the Ford Bronco was very much up there as well with its suspension set up.

Well mine is called Elsie, the plate starts with LC which i actually called it, my eldest misheard me and wrote Elsie in chalk on the back and the name has stuck unlike the chalk :)

Get some of that MOT fail yellow crayon, that stuff lingers.

DW I am correct in thinking that the bronco, was an early adopter of coil front leaf rear set up as favoured by several large Japanese manufacturers.

I can't remember - I'll have to dig the book out and report back...

The roadworthy one is Oom. Seems the majority of land rovers are getting their names from the number plate and this is no exception.

The one in rebuild will no doubt get a name once it's back together.

Wonder what WFK could be called if I ever decided to name it which is a definite no no!

Maybe Bertie (from Bertie Wooster, loosely related to the Worcester registration letters (FK)).  :cool

Old Hywel

It was impressed upon me once when I collected a S2 that it was referred to as Hercules by the family, and should retain the name.

The registration number was originally on a 1963 Tornado Talisman. It was given to me in 2006. It looks fine on black and silver plates on a Series 3.
FK were the only registration letters issued to the borough of Worcester.

People often ask me "what's your car called?" - and I don't have an answer although I might be tempted to reply noisy, bumpy, or brakeless following yesterdays experience.
As it's the wheeler dealers dream car I was thinking  about Mike or even Ant. Stretching to music themed ideas, Essex (of the Silver Dream Machine), Lover, or even Gerontius (Elgar is always a favorite).

So What's yours called and how did arrive at that name?

Look forward to your replies while I contemplate where the brake fluid went!

My one was always known as Sylvia based on the number plate. When I found her languishing at the back of Dunsfold Land Rovers I asked Phil what the deal was with the limestone 109" Station Wagon and straightaway he said, you mean Sylivia.

Just kind of stuck since although I don't use it myself. I call it the "series 2", the "white one" or the "109"

The "white one" is not to be confused with my partners horse who is also known to me as the "white one" Both the "white ones" in the photo below.

Craig.

I thought Elvis did the dream car?

The possibilities from that are endless ...
