hi all
Have currently revomed old clutch cover and friction plate from 1961 series 2, it marked as Bork and Beck and wondering which is  the best manufactirer to replace it with, the obvious Borg and Beck or Britpart as have been unable to find any others? Any advise greatly appreciated.

borg and beck is a good brand still.

even the britpart clutches are good I think, never had issues with them. even in my 130 they never gave me issues.

Is it petrol or diesel, is it spring or later diaphragm pressure plate.  I only ask ask it may have a different clutch fitted to factory standard for what ever reason.

QH or valeo could be options.

When I changed mine (1959 petrol) I was pointed towards LOF as being a good quality clutch. So far so good.

Hi
It a petrol and the current clutch is spring, have tracked down LOF and they look like a reasonable priced replacement.

Hi,

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but many yonks ago. I was told by "Spotty Youth" (not at Halfords) that the Jaguar clutch he had sold me would fit my S1. I preferred to have my money back.

If anybody here has access to old trade catalogues, it might be worth scanning through, to see if any other marque's clutches have the same manufacturer's part numbers. I suspect it is likely, as during my  draughtsman's course, we were advised to go to the stores to find a suitable item, and lock it in our drawer.

The drawing would then be annotated ...  "Collect spring from Drawing Office".

PS. Er ... the above occurred in early 1960s,lets say 60 odd years ago. Memory has caught up since signing off. The "items", being lectured about, were springs. Once we had found what appeared to be a suitable spring, the "job" would be designed around it.
