Another for the hive mind,

Can anyone help with any information about these striker plates? I've only ever seen them in this one picture of a '59 restoration.

Should my sep '58 have them, and if so has anybody got any they'd sell?

Thanks, Jon

Mine are the same 1965 ex Military if you zoom in on the pictures you can see them

Is there something different about the early ones? I've not looked too closely, but they look the same as all the others I've seen, certainly look like the ones on my 1960, 66 and 70?

My Oct 58 has those. I'm sure a set could be made from scratch without too much trauma, if you get totally stuck.

I thought they were all like that until the Anti-burst door locks came along. used from 1958 to 1984 according to Craddocks but  there does seem to be a change of shape for the bolt clamping ears ,somewhere along the line  . Is that what the OP refers?

Sorry all, I should have been clearer, the ones in my first post have vertical slots and a more lozenge shape.

The 'usual' ones are more squared off and have horizontal slots. I've never seen the vertical ones. I've checked all the S1 parts books and there are two types, both different to these.

Series 1 [at least 86/88"] had a first and second latch but the second latch position did not enclose the door catch. They had vertical slots for the fixing bolts.

I think the first series 2 had the 2 latches and vertical bolt holes but the second latch position was enclosed as in the OPs picture.

The type with 2 latches, second one enclosed, and horizontal bolt holes were later S2 and continued until the anti burst latches were fitted to the very last series 3, possibly earlier or retro fitted in the military vehicles as I have seen them on quite a range of years production.

As well as horizontal bolt slots in the door catches the later S2 and S3 also had vertical slots in the B post to increase the adjustment available.

These are series one (86") latches. Quite different as mentioned above so not left over bits from those.

My June 59, which I no longer own, had them, so I believe your Sept 58 would have also had them.

These early striker plates were mentioned in Richard Bullet proofs first S2 thread (along with photos), on the old forum.

My early 58 has them also vertical slots

Thanks all,

Looks like I shall be needing a pair. Another treasure hunt 😎
