There seem to be a distinct lack of good plastic model kits of the Land Rover series 2 and 2a. I have found some made by AK that look quite good and I am thinking of buying one to give it a try. Has anyone on here bought them? Generally I am looking at kits in 1/35 scale. If anyone know of any other plastic kits I would be interested.

Another subject I love....

There was a thread about Land Rover model kits on the previous forum and it carried on a little bit here.

I have two of the AK Interactive kits, the station wagon and the recovery truck. They are very nice and worth the price in my opinion. They are small in 1/35 scale but if you want to add them to other vehicles in a diorama such as trucks, tanks etc, they are off course the perfect scale.

I do have a Revell 109" station wagon in 1/24 scale and the conversion parts to make it into a series 2 / 2A I will make it one day and paint it up to represent my Land Rover.

The other 1/35 kits I know off are the Tamiya Pink Panther and the Tamiya Rover 7 ambulance. I have one of the ambulance kits but they are not easy to find now. The Pinky is still produced so a good price.
Italeri also made a 1/35 Pink Panther which seemed a very odd thing to do really seeing as Tamiya made one back in the 1970's. I haven't got one of those though but tempted now to buy one to compare the two.

Holy thread resurrection Batman......

Just found the old post about models of Land Rovers to post news of a new model coming up for release of a series one...
Yes, a series one but still, they may produce an 86" after that and it would go nicely with the series 2, 88" models by HK already available.

It's being made by Gecko models and looks really quite nice. A bit more advanced than the Airfix starter kit series one and even the Tamiya models so some modelling experience working with resin and brass parts may be advantageous.

I'm waiting for the 80" kit to be released to go with the rest of my kit stash.

I've had the summer off from modelling but want to get the articulated S2 finished now the days are shorter preventing outdoor work! Want to finally finish my version of 'Kenny' the One Ton Wrecker too.

A pic of work so far and my last completed model, a S3 Aussie style tray back converted from a Revell 1/24 S3 109 station wagon.

They look great.  :cheers-man
I must get back to building a few models myself. In the middle of an HMS Warrior at the minute by Billing Boats. It's quite involved...

I've had the honour of working on the real one and the Cutty Sark. Long story for another day...

I've got two of the AK Interactive series 2 tow trucks. Both gifts, and neither have been opened.

I wish I had the skills and patience to do them, but it certainly isn't my forte. Keen to have a crack at them though when time allows.

eclectic subject matter - HMS Warrior...and a phone box!

Craig T

The phone box is a wooden kit as well. All laser cut plywood with a wood planked curved top. I started it as a side project while waiting for the glue to dry on the Warrior planking. I will finish it one day....  :cool
