Has anybody got photos of a internal sun visor preferably the drivers side. Assuming there was such a thing for a SWB 1959 model. I have been trying to locate one for months. so thinking I could make one if I can get some measurements and photos.
Unless of course someone has one there willing to sell.

I think the padded ones supported at each end in the biscuit vinyl were later series 3 items.

I have seen a number of different sun visors in Land Rovers and never found the same ones twice!

The visors in my 67 station wagon are original to the vehicle, supported at one end only, made from vinyl covered hardboard, and mounted at one end only. You think they could rotate around to the side windows but they can't as the place they have been fitted onto, isn't level with the window so they only rotate upward until they hit the roof and downwards until they hit the screen! They are screwed onto the trim rail above the screen which off course is only fitted in station wagons, it doesn't exist in standard hard top or soft top vehicles.

Maybe they were such a rare option the dealers fitted them if requested and used whatever they could find from the Rover cars parts lists.

My 1962 has a original sun visor on the drivers side only, grey plastic with a line around the outer edge.
I have never actually seen a old series rover with a sun visor except mine.

I wanted one for the 1969 and could not find any old stock original ones for sale anywhere, so I built one using left over elephant hide, a piece of 3/16ths hardboard (wood), and a  piece of metal rod bent and threaded to suit. I had a upholstery shop sew it and install it onto the hardboard.

Note that on the 62 (with twin wiper motors) the original visor is very simply to attach (no disassembly of the roof upholstery needed just drill a hole through the metal of the windscreen frame and bolt it on.
The 69 which has the single wiper motor has a different windscreen frame, the top upholstery piece has to be removed to attach the visor.

Hi Victor,
Would you mind giving me some more information how they were made?
The arm looks easy enough to make but how is the visor kept tight on the arm but still allows it to lift up and down?

  Hi Mike

The rod is easy to make I bent it out of a piece of scrap from a lawnmower pickup bag.

The rod has a thin piece of rubber installed over it on the inside of the visor and it is basically friction holding it up or down.
It works okay and that is how the upholstery guy does them. (He has done lots of them he specializes in old cars).

If you look at the 1962s original visor their is a small screw and bolt with I think a small metal strap inside the visor that can be tightened to keep the visor tight to the rod.
I may have to add that (on the outside) if what the upholstery guy did does not work that well. My original plan was to use the screw and bolt.

Hi Mike, if you can bare with me I'm sure I have one early sunvisor in my workshop, I'm popping there today and I'll confirm either way, from memory it is just the sunvisor not the fitting but again I'll check that's not lurking about, failing that the bracket as mentioned above will be easy to make.  :cheers-man Paul ps I'm sure there's an adjusting screw/ bolt on the visor to prevent it flopping down

Apologies island dormy, I've just noted you had advised regarding the adjuster
