I take your point... You are a bit more remote than most. How do you envisage using the LR. Maybe start there and then see if we can add some pointers. I must say that those Hifly tyres look like well worth a punt if your need is just general purpose.

For commercials 10 years  is a UK legal age limit.  Not the recommended age. In practice, and regardless of tread depth, 5-6 years is about right. On the continent 5 years is law for all vehicles. TUV certainly.  Reason: the plasticisers play out by about then.

As an aside, patent-leather is usually too thin to hold its plasticiser, hence a coating of vaseline/ pet. jelly retains it and keeps patent-leather supple when it'd go brittle. Used to have to replace evening-shoes, this trick keeps them sharp for years, without they'd crack. Sadly you can't do that with tyres.
