Windscreen demister vents

I'm a newbie to the club but have had my 1965 for over twenty years now.
I acquired a nos Smith's heater years ago , which I finally got around to fitting last year.
Now that the winter is nearly over, the fitting of the screen vents ( pictured ) seemed a good idea.
BUT...they will not fit under the wiper motors. They slot onto the screen lip nicely all along, but not there...
So, just where am I going wrong....help please....!

That's also how they are on our very original 11a

I think you have to fold the screen forward to make room under the motor to allow  them to be bolted into position into the lip on the bulkhead

Thank you for the responses. I can't easily lower the screen,  but I can easily pop out a motor to see if it gives more clearance.....we'll see 🤞

The holes should be between the lip and the windscreen. If they're not there then even if you remove the motors you might not be able to get a drill into position.
