Yes ... It's that simple.

Just make sure you have the live (red) terminal properly insulated from the dash panel.

I added an in-line fuse to the accessory socket, behind the dash panel, in case of any accidental short circuits.

If its positive earth it will be the opposite way round. Red to the chassis ( earth)  and black connected to the fuse . Originally they were not fused but probably a good idea to fuse it.

I did quite the opposite. For me, aux sockets have little true utility,  they're un-fused and what with a small possibility they'll cook the loom, I disconnect. I'm not likely to use them anyway,

A fuse is 'Janet & John do Electrics -Book One'.  I have no idea why they were never fused. Other than an attempt to create warranty claims, I defy anyone to make sense of no fuse?
There's enough cooked looms in Series LRs now, we don't need more.

Whereas a cigar lighter socket and/or its USB variant - for phone charging - that I do use.
Those with a voltmeter  are worth having. Put a fuse in there.
