I'm fitting a fuel cap lock hasp but I can't get one of the bolts out.

The bolt and washer both spin but I can't get them to lift away from the surface.

Any hints or tips?

Can you drill the head off ???

I won't mention grinding the head off as it will start all sorts of alarm bells going  :cool

Can you get access to the rear of the screw ??

I suspect there will be a little nut on the underside, which you may be able to reach, if you are a triple-jointed contortionist with infinite patience.

Like the rest of us......😉

You dont mention it but have you got a spanner on the nut on the inside? Likely to be 2BA.

Archie

It looks like a captive nut on the other side and I'd have to take off the fuel filler cover plate on the inside to get access.

That might have to be the way.

This was supposed to be a wee 5 minute job  :thud

According to the parts manual, they are indeed 2BA screws with washers and nuts on the inside.
You will need to remove the cover panel from the inside to reveal the filler pipe then an easy job from there on.

I was looking at mine this morning, they are a mixture of captive bolts where access is tricky, and then ones with nuts where access is easier - but as you say, this would result in the fuel filler cover being removed from the inside  :cheers-man

As we prove in Scotland, 2 negatives do indeed make a positive.

"Aye. Right" 🤔

I'll have a go tomorrow. 🤞

Well, it was going to be such a faff getting into the back of the fuel filler, I decided to drill out screw and replace both lowers with rivets.

Probably more secure.

Use a small, 6" needle nose vise grips to hold the nut on the inside. Yer welcome.
