OT I realise but who remembers laser disc players?
I recently resurrected my 30 year old Sony player and it still works, plays both sides of the disc too and it's multi region. I have over 100 laser discs, some suffering from laser rot now so I'm going through them and watching them. I've rediscovered Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Absolutely hilarious.

Don't do streaming of anything whatsoever.
I prefer to use my outdated (and free) technology, laserdiscs or DVD or recording on the Freeview box hard drive.

Anyone got/still using video players ???
Betamax ???

A lot of people are going back to vinyl records  :noise

I'd be very surprised if laser discs made a comeback. It's a bulky and clunky system supposed to supersede video tapes but was very quickly ousted by DVD's.

I've never gone back to vinyl, cos I didn't stop using it and always sought it out where I could.

I prefer the sound quality.

I still have cassettes and CDs.

Anyone using 4-track or wax cylinder? 😂

I still have my little minidisc player. Not played it in yonks and doubt I will. Getting a rechargeable battery now might be a problem.

I've got cabinets and cabinets full of cassettes and cd's. And I still use them. In the old days you went to the library, got vinyl or cd's and taped everything. All day every day. From Gubaidulina and Shostakovitch to Rameau and Britten (Curlew River!). From Chicago to Led Zeppelin. And Zappa of course 😎 Have I got everything Zappa, nah, probably not, but quite a lot...

This is one of my more unusual laser discs. It's an 8" version of Dire Straits Brothers in Arms featuring "Money for Nothing, So Far Away, Walk of Life and Brothers in Arms". The playing side is the other side of the disc as it's single sided and the player starts from the centre underneath and moves to the edge. With a 2 sided disc the playing mechanism comes up, turns over then starts the second side from the centre on the top side. The disc doesn't need turning over. Side 1 on a 2 sided disc is actually side 2 as the disc is placed in the tray.
