Uffddd

I've got RAC cover included with my insurance through Lancaster.

Dopey

Autonational Rescue.

It used to be one of the best, but not been with them for some time now, the cover Is for you, so if you are in someone's car they can use it also, and it's free if you put your other half on it also... that's how it used to be anyway and it was cheap, they also do classic car insurance, (I haven't used that though)

Serious Series

Nov 2015 hydraulic locked my landrover engine and bent a conrod when going through a river flow was that fast it pushed the water up the side of the engine block into my air filter.
Next day recovered from where it happened out on the moors to Alston by a mate had took glow plugs out and when trying to hand crank it bent the starter handle.
Explained this to the RAC leaving out the river crossing and told them I thought timing belt snapped. They got an engineer to call me I gave him the details and a recovery truck was despatched without sending a mechanic to assess issue ,got me back to Tyneside by Sunday tea time.
My RAC cover is through my bank account I also have recovery on my Adrian Flux insurance but have not used it yet.

Heritage_Insurance

Hi everybody,

For those who don't know us, we're Heritage Insurance, specialists in classic car insurance since 1965. We wrote an article recently comparing the level of cover you get with a comparison site vs with a specialist insurance broker like us.

Breakdown cover is one of those areas where cover is initially limited. For example from our research looking at multiple quotes for a single vehicle:
  • Comparison sites: Often included, in other cases it's £30-45 for cover up to 10-miles local recovery only in the UK. The cost could extend to £90-£149 for roadside assistance in mainland Europe.
  • With Heritage Insurance: £49 for nationwide assistance and recovery in the UK and Europe as standard.

Essentially, just be wary with the level of cover you get included with your policy! You can read the article on our website here: https://www.heritagecarinsurance.co.uk/blog/why-you-shouldnt-use-a-comparison-site-to-insure-your-classic-car/

Hi,

Our Hyundai was returned (side scraped by passing car, outside daughter's house), looking very smart. but only after we had settled the £7.000 bill.

£7,000? Yikes! Maybe my octogenerian memory is failing, and I have added a zero? but it definitely started with a 7, and £700 seems too low. Whatever, Barbara wrote the cheque without comment, I keep my NCD, there is nothing on my insurance history, and we now have an idea of the bottom line.

Expensive lesson .... and not my fault.

Lesson 2 ... my next car ... as and when ... will be the top of the range ... of the cheapest range. eg: the battery powered KIA PICANTO with the most grunt.

06.14hrs.  One pf my girls has arrived, and is donning her rubber gloves.
