Hi all, just in the process of fitting an ex military 2.5 n/a diesel in the series,i fitted the series engine brackets to the engine, the near side fits o.k.on the mounting rubber but the o/s is fouling on the diesel pumping and won't drop in to place,do i need to use an original mounting that it didn't come with,or am i missing something?

  Hi

I have a friend who is doing the same conversion right now converting his 59 petrol to a 2.5 diesel. I will be going by his place this afternoon I will try to remember to take a picture, I think he had to build a special engine mount as the pipes were in the way?
 Stay tuned.

I had  to make a new mount on the chassis when I fitted a 2.5 diesel, to marry up with the 2.5 Mounting bracket. Not sure how the DVLA view these sort of mods. nowadays.

Hi,  nearside and offside mean different things in different countries.

Glencoyne has good information;  https://www.glencoyne.co.uk/info.htm

Here is how I did my 2.5 on my S2;  https://poppageno.blogspot.com/2011/10/109.html

As quoted above yes you have to change the right side motor mount.

Thanks Geocache, that explains a lot, dont really want to cut my new chassis but come to far now, will use your pictures as a guide and get it done.thanks again.

Do you have the mounting brackets which bolt onto the engine like these on ebay 395515287155 item no. You need to cut off the long righthand side chassis mount which fouls the injector pump and weld on an inverted engine bracket the small bracket shown in the ebay item. By the way the 2.5 NA engine chugs it's the air intake not exhaust lets people know you are comeing at a distance.

Hi Noddy, yes, luckerly it was the only bracket it came with, swapping out a sherpa lump for an ex military 2.5 n/a, just because of timing belt availability although i had just replaced one and have another spare, but as i got the new engine at a good price and was doing a chassis swap it made sense to do it now, thinking it would be a straight swap. ???  :thud

You know I'm thinking with a little fettling someone could build a new engine mount that would adapt to the existing frame mount. Glad to help.
