Can anyone give me an idea of what a Maltese cross grille costs these days.

Between £100 to £200

(Are you buying or selling ???)

my dad sold his 1971 109 for £200 back in the late 90s, with an MOT

grille goes for that now...

I made mine out of mesh, looks good enough and never had any complaints. Cost about £40 and got enough to make two.

I've been offered a series 2 grille, I haven't seen it yet so can't say if it's the inverted T or a Maltese cross. I'm planning to go over and view it next week. I have some idea about the value of a T shape but had none for a Maltese cross.
I've also heard of a Minerva S1 in a hedge though early indications are that the expected price is too high.

Old Hywel

Never had any complaints, he said.
With paintwork like that, who looks at the grille? :confused

I wouldn't have noticed that grille had you not said it! It looks fine! There's a vehicle which just says fun all over!

I suppose in reality, every Land Rover is a Mystery Machine...

I'm sure I saw someone, somewhere making very good reproductions of them. He developed some kind of rolling press as well to turn round wire into the funny, flat wrinkled profile of the originals.
He had them galvanised too and you really couldn't tell the difference.

If I find him again, I'll post details.

That's was it, many thanks.   :cheers
Here are some screen shots....

I'll send him a message and get an email address if anyone is interested and not on Facebook or I'll ask him to join the forum.

At £235 for a repro Maltese Cross grille, it makes an original at £100 look cheap.

I wonder if hanging grilles on a wall, can turn them into "art".

If so, my wall must be worth a fortune.  :coffee

A tad eccentric, methinks.....

Similar story with the banjo steering wheels.

They are worth a fortune now  :shakinghead
