I stumbled upon a nice blog post on a 1968 Series 2a Dormobile. In French, I'm afraid, but as most modern browsers have translations under a button, I thought I'd share it with you anyway. And as a service*, here's Google's rendering of the page.

The image below is just a teaser.

Love it!
If I get my act together, I shortly may have a 5 door Dormobile to show off myself by the end of this year.

In my misspent youth, I drove to and from South Africa twice in old Land Rovers. One was a diesel 109 Station Wagon. On completion of that trip I swore blind that I would never, ever, ever, take a Series Land Rover on a long journey again.

Then I drove to Sarajevo from here in a 2A 109 Ambulance and then brought a convoy of Dutch Army Lightweights back to the Netherlands... :thud

My point being that I've done my bit - enough is very much enough. I don't do overland anymore. Certainly not in a Land Rover. My spine can't take any more abuse.

It's a non runner anyway, but will come back tucked safely away in a container.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading that, Richard. Thanks.

I noted the home made external sun visor, open at the top, would work rather less like a wind brake than the standard LR version.

I've got a few from the Africa trips. Balkans no - photography was not permitted on those two trips.

I'll post something when I can find them.
