Can someone tell me what seat backs would be most original on an early '59 SWB. I'm seeing pin type and bolt fixings on offer but haven't found any indication of when one method was changed to the other or if it was a 109/88 difference since the parts book does have different part numbers for each.

Also how are the seats from exmoor trim these days? I've heard they're using proper ply now but is that alone enough to solve all issues they might have had in the past?

As of early 2023 the Exmoor Trim seat bases with the elephant hide for my Series 2 had bases of MDF and the backs were pressed metal, painted black. Surprisingly comfortable considering the internals are just foam and they are a basic wedge shape.

The drivers seat in my 109" station wagon is a bolted seat back but it has sliding runners.
The other seats are not on runners and they are the pin type.

Bolted ones may be specific for the adjusting seat runners?

For all SII's 58 to 61 I believe that the Original Seats were are below,

1. SWB Fitted as Standard Flat Seat Bases with Flat Fames with Pivot at the back

2. LWB Fitted the Adjustable Frames fitted - the adjustable frame slides forwards and backwards, the Seat Back Pivot is part of the Frame which Slides and the seat bases which fit into the Adjustable seat Frame have an angle at the back to fit into the frame.

3. SWB Optional Extra was to have the LWB Adjustable Frames fitted.

Also all seat Bases & Backs were Originally Metal Spring and Elephant Hide.

It seems feasible then that the bolt type was for adjustable seats and therefore the 109 spec. So for my 88 it'll be pins. I'm happy with that logic I think.

Anyone had any seats from Exmoor in the last year?
