Have anyone used their H4s as I see they are expensive but if they do the job then you get what you pay for saying that if they are good would it be worth the club trying to add them to the discount list.

I've got H4 LED lights but not from Classic Cars and mine are the brilliant white type.
They certainly make the vehicle visible in poor conditions. Coming back from the Newbury sort out along a gloomy and drizzly busy A34 there was a Defender behind me and his lights compared to others and obviously mine were about as bright as candles. I'd recommend LED's for the visibility reason alone. I've got LED side and brake lights too.

I have them and Alan says it certainly make my Grey motor visible in poor light and at nightI have hothced a big improvement.  I also fitted their side and stop/tail bulbs.
The old days are the old days only because there're gone and won't be back.

I have the headlights, side lights and stop tail ,can't fault them.
As an aside I also have the reverse lamp fitted in the TDCI Defender the bulb has a torch like lens on it which is great when reversing at night in poorly lit areas as it really lights up the rear of the vehicle.

Anyone here got a 924?!

Another consideration of LED bulbs is that they use considerably less current than conventional bulbs easing the strain on ancient wiring and switches. I think 2 H4 LED headlight bulbs draw about 4 amps on full beam compared with the 10 amps of conventional bulbs.

Thanks for your responses I've ordered the head light bulbs for now maybe other bulbs later as I've a clutch to sort out as its slips in 4th generally uphill I've checked the cylinder and changed the pipe but still slipping and the pedal has a high biting point so a winter project fitting the LOF road spec one and something I've never done but with YouTube and help from other sources I  should save some money in garage fees and I'm actually looking forward to doing it as each little jobs I've done it's given me confidence to give it a go but just got to watch the £££'s

Not sure of retro fit LED bulbs but dedicated LED headlamps with optics to match typically use dip and main elements when high beam selected whilst still drawing considerably less current than filament type.

What led bulbs would suit a 59 series 2 headlights please

Alan Drover

There are various types of fitting. Look up Classic Car LED's and have a word with them, that'll be your best course of action.
Different fittings are available from them. The most common is H4, the 3 pin fitting.

'59 would have bulbs, surely?

Calum

A '59 should be Lucas 700 lamps which use British Pre-Focus bulbs. You can get H4 and LED bulbs to go in these units - Paul Goff is the 'original' guy in the classic motorcycle world (obviously they will fit vehicles as well) but there are loads of other suppliers now.

I have seen the new 7" unit on the market from 'Bangin Headlights' in Australia (awful name and logo unfortunately, but the product looks great). They are a dedicated, E-marked sealed LED unit which looks far more inkeeping than other LED lamps I have seen out there and of course features warm white LEDs. Price wise they look very competitive to me, I'm just waiting for someone I know to try them first!  :flasher
