What have you done with your Series 2 Land Rover today ?

Took the front brake cylinder apart to fit new seals. Came across a design of piston I haven't come across before - so the seals I've got won't fit. Annoyed!

Fitted a cable actuated bypass valve to the heater circuit this weekend along with a new core in the heater itself. Toasty!

Pulled a rear brake cylinder apart, I do have the correct seal kit, but found corrosion in the bore.

New cylinders ordered.

Finished painting the bulkhead (what I could get to insitu) after having a pillar and part of a foot panel replaced

Turned up a bunch of spacers on the lathe to make a suspension bush insertion tool.
Studding was a bit of 1/2" UNC I had lying about and the spacers were made to fit in the chassis tube to keep it central and the bush spacer was recessed so it presses on the outside of the bush, not the centre tube.

First one went in very nicely with some red rubber grease around it. I'll carry on with the other three soon.

Bushwaka, that's what I thought (image courtesy of the Landrover Club Holland). I have an illustrated How-I-did-it (pdf), but it's in Dutch, so I won't bother you with it...

I took the opportunity to lie on the floor in the sunshine and enjoy the hue of the EP oils, not supplied by Loyd Grossman.
The oil could have been warmed but I had plenty of time for a sloooow pour.

Bushwaka, that was the thing. I knew a tool existed but couldn't think of the name for it.
At the minute it only does bush insertions. I may try to make another spacer for it so it can be used for extractions as well.

Good to have the photo of the real thing, I'll save that somewhere for future reference.

My Stage One came with new polybushes. I "just" had to take the old ones out and put the new ones in. I remember making something like the Bushwaka tool out of an old scissor jack. I found the idea somewhere on the internet. Something like this on LRUK. (I sold the Stage One as a project before trying it out...)

No snow here. I visited a local car trimmer for them to have a look at the Series 3 dashboard top and it's an injection moulding, not a cover. Then for a chilly but sunny dog walk.
Amazing how dirty clean windows are when driving into a low sun.
No need for any deicing. My drive faces south and I always reverse in. Nature's deicer did the job for me.

I'm not on Facebook Peter and I can't find him on Google. I don't know how good he is but Stockbridge is only 10 miles so easy delivery, collection and return if any complaints so I'll stick with them and their reviews are good.
Thanks for the information but once I've fitted the Blanchard's dash top I'll take the old one to the place at Stockbridge.
I'll likely sell it anyway. The Blanchard's one will outlast me.
